Respecting the Environment and Marine Life:
At Diving Sports we are passionate about the environment. All of our guides will be making sure divers are following practices to leave our dive sites the same or better than when we get there. All divers will be following the "look, don't touch" rule during all trips to ensure minimum impact with the marine environment and wildlife.

Transportation :
We have a 7 passenger van to transport all divers and equipment to Vancouver Island and back. Divers are welcome to take a spot in the van, or arrange their own transportation to meet us in Port McNeill.


Where Are We Going?

Vancouver Island is very well known for it's incredible marine life and biodiversity. There's no place better than Port Hardy! We are going for 4 days to dive all around the area and experience the best dive sites Vancouver Island has to offer.

We will spend 1 day diving and whale watching out of Port McNeill and Telegraph cove and 2 full days diving out of Port Hardy. Well known for the resort there, Godspocket, the area is home to the famous Browning Pass, which we will be able to dive.

Join us for a 4 day trip to Port Hardy and Telegraph Cove and experience the world’s best cold water diving!

What is Included:

  • Transportation to and from the dive shop in Vancouver
  • Snacks and lunch on the boat
  • 3 days of boat diving, 2-3 dives each day
  • 1 Shore Dive on the first day
  • Tanks and weights for all dives are included for the weekend.
  • Nitrox can be included for many or all dives at an extra price: $15 per tank
  • Accommodations for all 3 nights
  • Dive Guide
  • All ferry fees and fuel charges are included. Divers who wish to meet on the island will receive a refund for the passenger ferry fees, usually around $40.
  • What is NOT Included:

  • Breakfast and Dinner. We are staying at. theSportsmans Inn on the water in Port McNeill neighbouring local restaurants and cafes
  • Rental Equipment. Please reserve your rental equipment HERE
  • Who is This Trip for?:

  • Anyone wishing to experience world class cold water diving
  • Photographers interested in capturing incredible macro life or wide angle action
  • Scubadivers should have advanced certification, and a minimum of 20 cold water dives, with one being in the last 6 months
  • As the currents can be very unpredictable, we are not currently allowing Freedivers on this dive trip

  • Itinerary :

    Friday:

  • 7:00am - Meet at shop, pack the van, and drive to Horseshoe Bay
  • 9:40am - Ferry departure from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay, Nanaimo
  • 11:45am - Arrive in Nanaimo, and drive to Parksville for our first shore dive of the weekend
  • 1:00pm - Pack up after the dive and drive to Port McNeill. We usually stop in Campbell River for lunch/dinner
  • 6:00pm - Arrive at the accommodations in Port McNeill

  • Saturday:

  • Enjoy 2-3 boat dives, whale watching, and sight seeing
  • We usually stop in Telegraph Cove for the afternoon

  • Sunday:

  • 2-3 Boat dives in Port Hardy and Browning Pass
  • Hot Lunch included on boat
  • More whale watching and sightseeing

  • Monday:

  • Check out of the Inn
  • 2 early dives up in Port Hardy in the morning
  • Drive back to Nanaimo to catch the 5:55pm ferry to Horseshoe Bay
  • Arriving back at the dive shop by 8:30pm

  • Full Payment is required 2 months prior to the dive trip

    Commitment to Safety and Enjoyment

    At Diving Sports we believe in making sure all our divers (Scuba and Freedivers) receive the best possible experience while maintaining a high standard for safety, both for the divers, the guide, and the environment we are visiting. Our dive guides have many years of experience diving locally in cold water. All Dive guides are trained in first aid and oxygen delivery. First Aid kits and DAN Oxygen Kits are present on all trips and courses. Dive sites or dive plans may be changed due to weather conditions or experience level of the group, as well as anyone not adhering to proper dive practices will politely be asked to adapt to better interact with the underwater environment.
