Workshops Hosted at Diving Sports - Come Learn Something New!

Ever wondered how to make your own neck weight for freediving? Looking for some tips and tricks when planning decompression for technical scuba diving? Curious about sidemount, but not sure if it’s right for you?

We offer workshops once per month covering a wide range of topics. Combined, the Diving Sports team has decades of experience in freediving, recreational scuba diving, and technical scuba diving. We are eager to share our passion, expertise, and special interests with our local diving community! From underwater photography to rebreathers, there is always something new to learn about diving. Each workshop will cover a different topic, and are designed to be as hands-on as possible. We are offering limited spaces for each to better facilitate engaging activities and opportunities for in-depth conversations. No two workshops are the same, so please read below to find out more:

Sidemount Harness and Tank Rigging Workshop - March 24th, 2023

This workshop is designed for divers who are either new to Sidemount Diving or have been struggling to get their rigging optimized for themselves. Bring in your gear if you have it to get everything set up right!

  • You will be learning tips to better size and rig your sidemount equipment.
  • Benefits and drawbacks to different hose configurations.
  • Tips for tanks attachment and removal in, or out of water and hardware options to make quality of life improvements.
  • Hands on learning with our instructor Drew Beattie adjusting equipment and choosing the right options for you.

  • Decompression Strategies for Technical Scuba Divers

  • In this workshop, we will focus on planning and executing decompression dives
  • Learn how to increase short term safety while looking at long term exposure to decompression
  • Hosted by Hamish Tweed - Hamish has been teaching technical diving for over 25 years and has taught decompression to over 800 students

    An Introduction to Technical Scuba Diving

  • This workshop is an introduction to the world of technical scuba diving
  • This is a great opportunity to learn more about technical diving before deciding if it's right for you!
  • We be discussing the fundamentals of technical diving, special techniques, planning procedures and skills that set technical diving apart from traditional sport diving
  • We will also go over the necessary courses and training path to becoming a technical diver
  • We'll chat about the equipment requirements for technical diving as well
  • This is a great opportunity have all of your technical diving related questions answered by one of the most experience technical instructors in Vancouver
  • Hosted by Hamish Tweed - Hamish has been teaching technical diving for over 25 years and has taught decompression to over 800 students
