Community Dive Days Goal:
We love the diving community in Vancouver and we want to help it grow and come together. Whether you are new or experienced, freediver or scuba diver, everyone is welcome on our dive days.
These Dive Days are free to join, Pre-Registration is not required and anyone can join as long as you are certified in your respective discipline. We are trying to come up with new ways to enjoy and experience our local dive sites to give divers even more reasons to come get involved in the local scene!
Our free Dive Days are intended to help scuba divers get out and dive! Our divemasters and instructors will be present to help Dive Club members plan their dives, aid with gear, provide post-dive hot/cold drinks and snacks, and answer any questions you might have! Please note, this is not a guided dive. You will be diving with other certified diver buddies, and are ultimately responsible for safely planning and executing dives within your certification limits. After your dive, enjoy a hot drink, look through the fish ID books and chat with other divers about what you saw! Please bring a reusable mug for your hot drink.
Holiday Dive with Santa
Dive Site: Porteau Cove
Meet Time: 11:00am at the site.
It's the Holiday season so we just want to get the dive community all together for a big fun dive. Freedivers and Scubadivers are all welcome to join us! Aside from being a nice way to dive together, we are adding another little treat; one of our instructors will be waiting at a marked spot underwater dressed as SANTA! We will have a camera for divers to take photos with them if they want and afterwards the photos will be available for purchase!
Pre-Register to let us know that you are coming, and especially if you need a ride in our shop vehicle. Space is limited so it is first-come first-serve. Pre-registry is NOT necessary for anyone participating, however for those wanting to participate you will need to sign a liability waiver at the dive site on the Dive Day.
New Years Day Dive
To celebrate the New Year we are going to be getting together for a big fun dive! Start your year off right with some friends, or come to meet some new ones and begin 2025 by getting wet!

Valentines Day Dive
In order to celebrate being together at this time of year, we are getting to dive community together for another fun dive! In the spirit of Valentines day, we will be giving away 2-for-1 rental gear to anyone who needs it! Bring a partner or friend and come out for a fun dive with us.

Easter Egg Hunt Dive
For Easter, we are going to be doing an underwater egg hunt! To make sure we aren't leaving anything behind underwater, our divemasters will be waiting underwater with gift baskets for anyone who finds them. Trade in the "eggs" you find on the dive for treats after the dive is over. Divemasters will be easy to spot as they will all be wearing bunny ears!

Important Information for Community Dives!
Dive Buddies
No Buddy? No problem! Divers are welcome to come with a buddy team, or as singles. The divemaster will pair you up with another diver. It’s a great way to meet new people in the area who are also passionate about diving!
Rental Equipment
Divers are required to arrange their own equipment. Diving Sports only has a limited number of tanks and equipment so if you are hoping to rent from us please contact us as soon as possible to reserve your gear!
If you would like to rent a drysuit for your dive, you must have a Drysuit Specialty certification. As these are unguided dives, a drysuit “upgrade” is not sufficient for using a rental drysuit unsupervised.
As these are unguided dives, each diver/buddy team must have their own computer and whistle. A marker light is also highly recommended.
We do have a limited number of dive computers and lights available to rent, and these will also be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Commitment to Safety and Enjoyment
At Diving Sports we believe in making sure all our divers (Scuba and Freedivers) receive the best possible experience while maintaining a high standard for safety, both for the divers, the guide, and the environment we are visiting. Our dive guides have many years of experience diving locally in cold water. All Dive guides are trained in first aid and oxygen delivery. First Aid kits and DAN Oxygen Kits are present on all trips and courses. Dive sites or dive plans may be changed due to weather conditions or experience level of the group, as well as anyone not adhering to proper dive practices will politely be asked to adapt to better interact with the underwater environment.
