    Who is this course for:

The number of certified divers in the world has grown tremendously in the past few years. Accessibility to dive resorts and dive centres offering dive excursions have also become more available. Because of this growth, dive operators are requiring that certified divers have a more consistent practice of diving and can show this through recently logged dives or a refresher course conducted within as little as the past 6 months. Refresher courses will indicate a diver has reviewed their scuba skills and refreshed their knowledge of diving. If you are travelling soon and need to show proof of diving this is the course for you. Divers who simply wish practice with an Instructor can take a refresher course at any time.

A refresher course is supposed to do exactly that: refresh your dive skills. We will spend a full pool session to review all the basic skills you learned through your Open Water course so you can safely go enjoy your next dive experience, whether that is a trip to Hawaii or a dive course right here in Vancouver!

    What You Will Learn:

Students will review how to set up and break down their dive equipment, pre-dive safety checks, deep water entry, mask clearing, regulator recovery, neutral buoyancy skills, proper descents and ascents, and self-rescue scenarios. Students will also be guided through personal fitting of dive gear, use and understanding of a dive computer if they have one.

    See the Course Standards HERE

    Refresher Options:

You have two options for your refresher: Pool refresher or a PADI ReActivate. The Pool Refresher is simply one evening in the pool with a little time in the class to ask questions, review gear setup and maintenance, and in water skills with an Instructor or Divemaster. If you wish to get a more in-depth theory review and receive an official certification for completing the refresher you may choose to upgrade to the PADI ReActivate to be assigned eLearning to complete prior to the pool and class; simply choose the best option for you!

    Course Description:

  • You will receive an eLearning code for a theory review (if you chose the ReActivate)
  • There will be a classroom session to review material, skills, equipment, and dive practices at Diving Sports before we drive to the pool.
  • You will then spend the rest of the evening in the pool to review gear setup and practice skills underwater
  • After successfully completing either option of Refresher, your Instructor or Divemaster will be able to sign your logbook to signify you have met the safety standards and are ready to participate in ocean dives! We will give you some suggestions of what dives might interest you and what options you should start exploring as you get back into diving!

    Commitment to Safety and Enjoyment

At Diving Sports we believe in making sure all our students receive the highest quality instruction and customer service. We are in the business of training, mentoring, and supporting students to become safe, skillful and confident divers. We begin by scheduling our courses with the number of classes it typically takes most students to master the knowledge and skills, then adapt and tailor our schedule to fit our individual student’s needs. Our instructors are open and honest about your progress during each part of the course. Students may need to schedule additional pool or ocean training dives prior to certification. This ensures our students complete their courses with all the skills and knowledge they need to be safe and enjoy their future dives and courses. When you take a course with Diving Sports, you are welcomed into a passionate and inclusive community of divers eager to support your diving journey well beyond the duration of your class.
